Programme overview

The Contrology Pilates Method (or CPM) Preparatory Programme is designed to assist you in achieving a basic-intermediate level of performance, in order for you to be accepted into the Apprenticeship Training Programme or Time Flexible Programme.

It is important for you to have achieved sufficient proficiency in performing the Contrology Method before entering the Comprehensive programmes, where the focus will be on learning how to teach it.

The criteria for joining a Preparatory Programme are as follows:

q       Some sound experience with performing Pilates, with some exposure to Cadillac, Chair Reformer and Barrels

q       Exhibit good use of breath, integration and rhythm (tempo)

q       Demonstrate inner awareness and a level of body ‘ownership’

q       Injury free

q       Post partum 6 months or more

q       Passion, enthusiasm, discipline and commitment - without these you won’t be going far!

How long does it take?

Students should aim to enrol in the Preparatory Programme 3-6 months before they hope to start Comprehensive Training, depending on previous experience and knowledge. This will be assessed, discussed and planned individually.

Students should anticipate spending a minimum of 4 hours per week at the studio, or the equivalent time arranged in blocks if you are living far away or working full time.

What do you get?

The Preparatory Programme provides four tools designed to help you achieve the level of ability and knowledge necessary to be accepted into the Comprehensive Courses.

q       A personal advisor Your advisor will meet with you once a fortnight to look over your log sheets, discuss your schedule, any concerns that you may have, and to make sure that you are progressing through the material.

q       Lesson schedule Each student is unique and needs different amounts and types of classes.  Your advisor will help develop your schedule by suggesting which classes and lessons you should be taking each week to reach your goals.

q       Preparatory Observation Journal This is a personal journal you keep – writing down what was confusing in your own body, any imbalances or tightness that became more apparent and how the teacher tried to correct them, what you did or did not understand and any breakthroughs - after each lesson or observation.  By putting these observations into writing you will learn more about movement in your own body and will better be able to identify strengths and/or weaknesses that might help or impede your progress.

q       Self - Practice We offer unlimited use of our studio for self practice (during standard studio hours and subject to availability) Self Practice should be done after a lesson so that you can remember and apply what you learned.  This will help you understand your body, as well as the choreography, order, breath and repetitions.

What Qualifications can be achieved?

The Preparatory Programme does not offer any qualifications, it provides you with the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to enter into the Comprehensive Teacher Training Programmes.

Acceptance or participation in the Preparatory Programme does not guarantee acceptance into the Comprehensive Courses.

What are the fees?

The Preparatory Programme is a flexible programme designed around your specific situation and location.  Our payment structure provides for this flexibility by charging separately for the programme and studio lessons/sessions.  This means that students only pay for the studio time they require and that you have the option of taking some or all of these preparatory hours at any of our associated studios in Bath, Norfolk or here in Sarratt, Hertfordshire.

.

Course fees: 3 month course fee is £400

Thereafter £150 per month, for up to 6 months.

The above fees cover the programme but DO NOT COVER your lesson/session costs which are dependent on the individual studio and teachers rates.
